Check out the stunning photograph!
It was created specifically for this Moon in Leo blog by Juanita Coetzer,
a freelance photographer from South Africa; and I couldn't be more proud.
The Leo energy is reflected perfectly in the queenly lioness who resides
at Panthera Africa, a non-profit sanctuary for big cats raised in captivity.

Once more the Moon joins her brother the Sun. Where the Moon is the ruler of Cancer, the Sun rules Leo. The position of the planets make for contentious energy, but not for the Sun – he is a happy camper at the moment. And so is the Moon, whose bro is extra supportive, radiating warmth and exuberance, bringing out her free-spirited side.
Leo tends to have an ‘all about me’ attitude and loves the spotlight – think Lucille Ball, Madonna and Mick Jagger (all are Leos). This is therefore a magical time to stretch your creative muscles. If you’re not already a lover of the arts, I suggest it’s time you become acquainted. Whether it’s music, theatre, poetry, perhaps photography, or any of the myriad of forms for self-expression available – whatever it may be, put your heart in it.
“This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine,
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine.”
– Harry Dixon Loes, Teacher & Composer
You may have been feeling the energy of big player planets in retrograde - Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune. On August 19th, we will add Uranus (the Great Awakener) to that list. Adding to that the ebb and flow of a myriad of celestial aspects which leave us feeling testy and prickly. My sage advice is to not fight the rapids, but move within that ebb and flow.
Take advantage of the Leo energy. Yes, Leo can be set in his ways and his bite can be worse than his growl. But for the next twenty-nine days, concentrate on the charismatic qualities of this sign. Change your perspective to keep things light. Focus on quality over quantity – add a fine wine to your meal, or wear that pair of earrings you never seem to have the right occasion for. In everyday events, see the funny side. Be romantic. “Make love in a hammock!” – remember that one? Remove the heavy moth-eaten cloak of limitations and expand like the Sun, radiating positive energy and light.
